$4,900 – Sedona, AZ:

“I am selling my beloved ’87 4wd Toyota Van. This awesomely cool little van is completely rhino lined and outfitted as a one person camper. It is the LE model with power everything and automatic tranny but was outfitted with manual wheel lock and low/hi 4wd gear lever taken off a stick shift (originally the LE model only came with push button hi 4wd). It has a very low gearing in 4wd.

The windows are limo tinted 5% and the inside was ripped out and wood/carpet installed. There is a custom bench seat in the back that contains an Optima blue deep cell battery fitted with a Yandina combiner to keep the house battery charged from the starting battery when running. The bench also contains a pull out bed frame that turns into a 3’x6′ bed. Besides the battery the bench also contains a 1600W power amp and a 10′ Pyle woofer, tweeters and component speakers.

The van ceiling and sides were redone in birch plywood and the entire van has a layer of reflective insulation. The carpet was replaced as best as possible with indoor/outdoor carpet. The only original fabric are the seats so its free of old foam and rat nests :).

The engine is the 2.2L 4YEC. The odometer lists about 161K though I know that the top end was rebuilt at some point. Brakes are good (new master cylinder and one wheel cylinder just redone), new alternator installed a year or so ago. Tires are all terrain General Grabber and have about 5K on them.

There is a Yakima roof rack with 2 (only one installed) Yakima bike racks as well as a rack/cage.

Being 30 years old the van does have some issues – here they are:
– the engine is burning extra oil – its in fair condition but at some point a rebuild would be nice.
– the starter solenoid contacts are a bit worn – this is a very cheap part and usually no issue but sometimes I have to wait a few seconds before the starter engages.
– there is AC but its not connected – the van originally came with an AC powered food/drink cooler which I took out and I never reconnected the hoses.
– backup lights do no work
– fuel gauge doesn’t work – I just wait for the light when in town or keep track of miles when doing trips – no bigee
– rear windshield wipers do not work

Other than that it drives well and is a good offroad vehicle as well as a great one person camper. I’ve done a lot of work and am ready to pass it on to someone that enjoys tinkering these great little vans.

I am asking $4900 for this beast.
