$20,000 – Flushing, MI:

“Built in Virginia by Freeman Treadway and John Blewett, Jr. for Blewett to race on superspeedways such as the Trenton, NJ and Charlotte, NC Motor Speedways; the immaculate racer was inexplicably sold unraced to West Park Auto Wreckers for Joe Severage to race at Trenton in 1975, where he qualified at 134 MPH and finished 20th in a 55 car field.
The next race for the pristine Gremlin took place in 1976 at Martinsville, VA where Billy Osmun won his heat race and received the “Best Appearing Car” Award, but crashed after only a few laps into the race. Shortly thereafter Osmun time trialed it at Trenton at 137 MPH, 25th in a 60 car grid, but dropped out with no oil pressure. Next, #7 entered the “Patriot 300” at Charlotte, NC, with veteran NASCAR racer Charlie Glotzbach driving, and “Coo-Coo” Marlin’s crew handling duties pit side. The racer was once again crashed and did not finish. The event was captured by Darryl Waltrip. The Gremlin sat until 1985, when it ran the Sportsman Class at Wall Stadium, NJ with Mike Shea thru 1986. This grand automobile eventually ended up back with Blewett Jr. at his junk yard in 1993, where Ray Shea retrieved it and restored it to the immaculate condition we see here-as one of the very few remaining “Superspeedway Modifieds”.
