$2,500 – Nobleboro, ME:

“I bought this 1971 Jeepster Commando back in 2002 with the hopes of restoring it someday. Unfortunately I have had no time to do this and feel it should go to someone who will restore it to its former might. When I bought this I hung a fuel can on the open hood, added a battery, and it started right up. The shifter did move but sluggish which I counted to the grease in the shift linkage just being dry. I turned it off and put it into the barn, where it’s been ever since. It does not drive and must be trailered home. While it needs a restoration it is in good enough shape and is a fine candidate. It does not have a title since one of this age is not required to have one in Maine.

This is a SC-1 Commando, which was a package that could be bought at the time. This Jeepster has the Dauntless odd-fire 225 V-6 engine, the TH400 automatic transmission, locking hubs on the front axle, power steering, and 1 piece factory axles in the Dana 44 rear end. It has the hard full top and the very rare hard pickup top. This was the last of the Kaiser Jeep line and has a 101” wheelbase.

While red in color, it was repainted at some time as the original color was butterscotch yellow, which is seen on the interior. I picked up many spare parts that will go along with it, to include body, interior, and well, just a lot of parts. It also includes a 350 Buick engine (minus the carburetor) that ran fine when pulled. My thought was to swap it in for some extra power since the TH400 can handle it.

Alas, I have moved on from Jeeps and would prefer this to go to someone who is an enthusiast. I am asking $2,500. I will not take a cashiers check for those wishing their ‘agent’ to pick it up (any non-scammer knows what this means). I will consider holding it for a short time provided a non-refundable security deposit is given and it is retrieved within a reasonable time. The barn needs a new roof so I need to move it, as such I am not looking for trades at this time.
