With such a large engine compartment for a 4-cylinder, it would be ideal for someone who wants to ‘hot-rod’ it out!

This auction is for a light blue 1987 Plymouth Turismo Duster. It’s a simple and rare low-cost classic car that’s hardly been driven — It has just under 40,000 miles on it! It’s got that classic futuristic 1980s look. The Plymouth Turismo Duster has an amazing history (information below). It’s based on the Dodge Charger L-Body. It’s a rare car that’s built on a durable frame! This car is ready to be a daily-driver, but would make an even better project car for enthusiasts. Despite the stock engine’s size, the compartment is huge and can house a big, custom engine. There’s no reason you couldn’t turn this thing into a muscle car — with less trouble and complication than many other cars!

The previous owner hardly ever drove it, so it handles extremely well. The alignment is wonderful. It’s got a great, sporty, tight feel to it. It seems like it’s not all that different from when it was a brand new car! It’s spent most of its life in storage. However, we drove it from time to time and always kept the engine in good shape, even when it was in storage. It has a carburetor and it’s easy and cheap to maintain.

It also has the original manuals.

Ownership information:
We own the title and it’s registered and insurance. There are no liens – we own it free-and-clear. No flood or salvage. I can send copies of all applicable documents. The car includes the original manual.

Engine type and transmission:
4-cylinder with manual transmission

Vehicle condition for the interior, exterior, and engine:
-These are clearly visible on the photos.
-The paint has faded on the hood and roof more than the rest of the car. There is some rust in areas where rainwater once pooled.
-There are a few scrapes near the driver rear tire, and places where the paint was scratched with some rust visible. There are a few shallow dents in this area.
-This is a non-smoker vehicle.
-The roof interior felt-type material on the roof is sagging in places, but is generally in good condition for a car of this age. This can be easily re-done.

Interior and comfort features:
Much of the dashboard features (headlights switch, etc.) are in unusual places compared to modern cars. Just like you’d expect on a classic car.

Recent maintenance:
new battery and fuel pump

Background:
The Dodge Charger (L-body) was a subcompact 3-door hatchback/fastback built by Dodge from 1983 to 1987, and based on Chrysler’s front-wheel drive L platform. A companion model, the Plymouth Turismo Duster was also marketed.
