$15,000 – Chloride, NM:

“Rare Marine Corps M422 Mighty Mite for sale.
The Mighty Mite was manufactured for the Marine Corps for use in the jungles of Vietnam. Only about 1000 of the M422 were built in 1961, and about 1200 M422a1 (about 12 inches longer) were built in 1962. This little jeep is about 2/3rds the size of a regular jeep, and being made of aluminum, it weighs about 1000 pounds. It was built with an air cooled engine and has a four speed transmission.
This Mighty Mite was never delivered to a military unit. It was kept at a Marine distribution center in California, and was disposed as ‘military surplus’ when the Vietnam war wound down. This vehicle has a total of 390 miles on it, and almost all of those miles were driving it in parades. It has never been driven on the open road nor on off road trails.
The vehicle comes with all of the original equipment including a manually operated windshield wiper, fold down seats in the rear tailgate, fold down seats for each rear fender, a spare tire holder and the spare wheel and tire which has never been mounted.
The vehicle was painted to match another vehicle which was used in parades, but but could be easily returned to it’s Marine Corps green. It has been stored in a barn for over 30 years, and will need new batteries.
